Lighthouse Writers Workshop: What was the Question? Keeping your story on track June 18, 2009

You’ve got great prose. Wonderful descriptions. But your readers keep asking: where is the story going? What’s the story about? In this workshop we’ll review the story question of several novels and discuss how a compelling story question can advance the plot and hook the reader. We’ll discuss how you can structure your narrative to keep the plot centered on the story question by using tension, backstory, character development, and pacing. Participants are invited to bring a one-page excerpt from a fiction work-in-progress to share with the workshop.
