This is the official launch of the Alton Local Food Initiative (ALFI) an offshoot of the Greening Alton and Holybourne Campaign and the group working to encourage local people to grow and buy local food.

Come and hear local horticulturalist Nick Rook-Blackstone talk about growing vegetables in your back garden, sample some 'Local Cheese and Chutney' with wine and seasonal local asparagus (available for a donation) visit a range of stalls and demonstrations including how to grow your own cut-and-come-again salad bar, using an old basket and a pond liner.

Find out how to make the sweetest smelling compost, and how one local infant school is leading the way in enthusing its children with growing, cooking and eating their own vegetables and fruit both at school and on the school allotment.
