Learn about the 36 most common trees and shrubs native to the greater Houston area on Sunday, December 5. Knowledge about their growth habit, light requirement and water tolerance will guide your selection of the right tree or shrub for the proper location in the landscape. Seasonal color and benefits to wildlife will be highlighted with a focus on bird habitat in this class, taught by Arboretum Conservation Director Joe Blanton.

The class will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. and includes a tour of the Arboretum’s grounds and preview of the Arboretum’s Winter Native Tree & Shrub Sale, December 11 through 19, 2010.
