Lakewood’s Cider Days

Bushels of fun for the entire family!



The Lakewood Historical Society started Cider Days in the 1970s to honor the settlers of the land that would become the City of Lakewood, and the City has carried on the tradition. Come celebrate the 34th annual Cider Days Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4 at Lakewood’s Heritage Center, 801 S. Yarrow St. (Wadsworth Boulevard and Ohio Avenue).

The weekend entertainment lineup includes:

Saturday, October 3

· 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The Carbone Family Band (Traditional Old-Time and Bluegrass Music)

· 11:30 a.m. - noon Ed Aragoni (Balloon Artist/Magician)

· Noon - 1 p.m. Fort Collins Bluegrass Band

· 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Storyteller

· 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Cowboy Craig and Family (Trick Roping)

· 2:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Children’s Hat Parade and Apple Bake-off winners announced

· 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. The Loose Nuts (Classic Country)

Sunday, October 4

· 10:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. Grace Notes (Barbershop Quartet)

· 11:30 am - noon Storyteller

· Noon - 1 p.m. Deborah Hill & the Sugardaddies (Country)

· 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Pie Eating Contest

Apple Bake-Off. More than $400 in cash prizes will be awarded in the Apple Bake-off on Saturday, October 3, and there is still time to enter. Call 303-987-7850 for an application.

Apple Cider. Lakewood’s Cider Days Festival celebrates autumn with an apple cider theme including cider booths serving organic cider by the glass or half-gallon. Festival-goers can also bring apples (or buy them at the event) and use cider presses to make fresh cider.

Children’s Activities. All children’s activities are free with paid admission including bucket train rides, adult and child amusements, hayrides, face painting, apple-themed games and crafts, a petting zoo, and live entertainment for the whole family.

Children’s Hat Parade. Come out and decorate a diner hat and then model it in a Children’s Hat Parade throughout the event grounds. Parade begins at 2:30 p.m. each day.

Antique Fun. Historic demonstrators present traditional crafts including quilting, chair caning, rug hooking, woodcarving, and tatting. Historic buildings at the Heritage Center will be open to the public including Ethel’s, a 1960s Beauty Parlor; a 1950s Variety Store,; a 1948 Diner; the 1930s Farm House; and the Streer-Peterson House. Antique vehicle enthusiasts will love the vintage tractor pull by the Rocky Mountain Tractor Pullers, vehicle displays by the Front Range Antique Power Association and the Antique Military Vehicle Collector’s Club.

Shopping & Food. Visit folk art and craft booths featuring the work of artisans from around the region at Cider Days. Food vendors offer everything from funnel cake to barbecue. The 20th Century Emporium features a variety of retro and nostalgic gifts along with wonderful books by local authors. Meet the authors of various Colorado books on Saturday and have your book autographed. Several Colorado authors will be on hand in front of the 20th Century Emporium discussing their books and answering questions.

Admission is $6 adults, $3 children (ages 3 -12). All proceeds from the event support educational programs at Lakewood’s Heritage Center, a 20th Century Museum.

Overflow parking and shuttle service is available at Belmar (Wadsworth Boulevard and Vance Street) and at the Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S. Allison Parkway (Wadsworth Boulevard and Alameda Avenue).
