Oak Park, IL – Lake Theatre’s First Tuesday Film Club will be presenting its next art feature – the 2010 French film “The Women on the 6th Floor” (NR). Slated for Tuesday, December 4th, show times are 12 PM and 7 PM. Movie admission is $6 for matinee shows/seniors and $8.50 for the evening shows. Advance tickets are available online or at the Lake Theatre box office, located at 1022 Lake Street.

“The Women on the 6th Floor” takes moviegoers on a journey in which a Spanish maid, named Maria, disrupts a couple’s bourgeois lifestyle in 1960’s Paris. Through Maria, the husband is introduced to an alternative reality on the 6th floor of his building where the sassy Spanish maids living there teach him the true meaning of life. The 2010 film premiered at the Montpellier International Festival of Mediterranean Film on October 23 and was directed by Philippe le Guay. Moviegoers are encouraged to stay after each screening to participate in a discussion conducted by film buff Joe Barillari of After Hours Film Society in the afternoon and film columnist Rob Elder in the evening.

The First Tuesday Film Club was created to expand its presentation of art/foreign films at the Lake Theatre. Due to the limited number of screens, the Lake is oftentimes restricted to more popular, mainstream films rather than the foreign or art movie options. Now, art, foreign, documentary, specialty, and/or classic films will be presented on the first Tuesday of every month at 12 PM and 7 PM.

The art films for this new First Tuesday Film Club have been selected with the assistance of local residents Susie Helfrich, Mary Kay O’Grady, and Bobbie Raymond along with Shirley Johnson of Classic Cinemas.

Classic Cinemas, based in Downers Grove, Illinois, is a family-owned company operated by Willis, Shirley and Chris Johnson. Established in 1978, Classic Cinemas operates 13 theatres with 100 screens in the northern Illinois area. Each auditorium is equipped with state-of-the-art digital projection and sound technology.
