Colonnade (btwn Guilford/Bernard St.)
London, England

Possibly London’s quirkiest venue, we couldn’t think of a better space to host our final Fertilizer offering. Grade Two listed, and originally a two-floor hospital for 24 horses, this brilliant venue retains many of its original features, including a cobbled floor and a horse ramp for its entrance, cast iron pillars, plus the original tethering rings, designed to tame the wildest of its equine patients.

We’re sure tonight’s artist, composer, multi-instrumentalist and Rephlex artist, Pierre Bastien, will love the Horse Hospital’s quirkiness, given that his approach to music making is pretty much just as bizarre. ‘Joining’ Pierre on stage tonight will be his mechanical orchestra, Mecanium, an ensemble of musical automatons constructed from meccano parts and activated by electro-motors, which ‘play’ a range of acoustic instruments from all over the world. We know, we know, it’s hard to comprehend; just take our word for it; Mecanium creates some of the most beautiful melodic and percussive music you’ll ever hear, played out in all its mechanical-ness on a video screen so that you can see every cog turn, and every sound created.

Book your tickets early; with only 80 on sale, this visual and aural feast is bound to sell out fast!
