Independent Show Local Artist Series Even the entire U.S. House of Representatives agrees jazz legend Miles Davis "made musical history and changed the artistic landscape of this country and in some ways the world." In December the House passed a resolution (409-0) to honor the 50th anniversary of Davis' Kind of Blue. Austin jazz trumpeter, composer and bandleader Jeff Lofton pays homage to Davis' music on Saturday with his locally renowned Jeff Lofton's 1950s Miles Davis Tribute at One World Theatre. The show features compositions and interpretations made famous by the first great Miles Davis Quintet during 1950 - 1959 and includes selections from Kind of Blue. Optional pre concert dinner tickets must be ordered from Word of Mouth CateringTickets are available from www.oneworldtheatre.org for $20.00 in advance or $25.00 at the door. Doors open at 8:00 p.m., and tickets are general admission. Separate tickets for an optional 7:30 p.m. dinner before the show, with music from jazz pianist Austin Kimble, are also available online for an additional $35.00. The self-produced show appreciates support from media sponsor KUT 90.5 FM, Austin's NPR affiliate, and St. James Episcopal Church, home of the Jazz at St. James Festival. The quintet will feature Alex Coke on tenor sax, Morris Nelms on piano, Chris Jones on bass and Masumi Jones on drums. with special guest Kellye Gray on vocals.
