THE REVENGE

Graeme Clark began producing in his early teenage years, making a skewed blend of electronic music using a couple of his dad’s old drum machines, a 4-track and a sampler. Influenced by his parents collection of rock, soul and blues as well as eighties daytime radio and the burgeoning rave scene, he began to dissect and re-imagine the music.

After dipping his toe in the water of hardcore rave production as a kid, Graeme set up his first label (Five20East) with close friends Scott and Ross Langley in 1999 during his studies in sound engineering. An outlet for their own productions, the label was centered on the sounds of House through their ears, and aimed to provide a hub for their community of friends to record and release. It proved a baptism of fire with distributors going bust, shops failing to pay, lawyer's letters and all the other hallmarks of a fledgling label run by teenagers. But all was not lost as the struggle brought valued experience in the workings (and not-workings) of the music business for all involved.

During this time, Graeme began producing with two of Scotland's most respected underground DJ's who shone a light on the mysteries of arranging and programming for the dancefloor. Craig Smith (Edinburgh) and Harri (Glasgow) both had residencies in their respective cities, and had begun working with Graeme after hearing some of the Five20East releases on their record store rounds. Using Graeme's studio, sessions would stretch into the wee small hours, digging through dusty disco dubs and long forgotten funk jams to find the perfect groove.

Graeme moved to Glasgow from his home town on the east coast in 2002 and started DJing more and more as well as editing some of his favourite records to enhance his sets. He also began to play live with his friend Paul McGlashan in their electronic band, Deportivo Street Team, playing a fusion of house and techno. It was around this time that Graeme forged friendships with Ali Herron whom he would go on to work with as OOFT Music and Simon Murray (Deep Space Orchestra) whom he would work with as Cronk Family Enterprises.

Ready for a new challenge, L.E.S.S. Productions was formed by Graeme, Ali and Scott in 2007 as a way to collate some of the edits they had been working on for their DJ sets, and get them out in limited numbers to DJs who they had contact with. Pressing only 100 CDs for each release, the series began slowly, but quickly gained a cult following over the 10 editions and saw some of the first 6th Borough Project (Craig Smith & Graeme), OOFT Music and Cronk Family Enterprises material. The label also paved the way for Graeme's new vinyl label, Instruments Of Rapture, which went on to become a spiritual home for the majority of 6th Borough Project's output in 2008 / 09.

Now producing for over 15 years, Graeme continues to put his fingers to work on a variety of projects in the studio aswell as touring as a DJ most weekends. Recent work has included music for DFA, Buzzin' Fly, Domino, Pokerflat, MCDE, Dessous and Silver Network aswell as forthcoming album productions (May 2011) for Delusions Of Grandeur and Z Records.

6TH BOROUGH PROJECT

Craig Smith & Graeme Clark have worked together in the studio for almost a decade, producing house jams and exploring long forgotten funk and dusty disco dubs. Studio output has featured on the much sought after L.E.S.S. Productions label as well as Jisco Music, Instruments Of Rapture, Domino Records and Delusions Of Grandeur, which they provided the first single for in 2009.

Craig has been DJing since 1987 when he made his debut at Edinburgh's legendary club night, The Hooch. With influences soaked in boogie, jazz and funk, through hip-hop and house, his sets are testament to 25 years of telling stories through music. Throughout the years, Craig has played alongside many of house music's visionaries, regularly bringing guests like Masters At Work, Kerri Chandler, Spinna, Jazzy Jeff, DJ Deep, Paul Trouble Anderson to the capital as well as maintaining an international touring schedule. He currently records as part of 6th Borough Project and The Soul Renegades.

Graeme began producing in his early teenage years, influenced by his parents collection of rock, soul and blues aswell as eighties daytime radio and the burgeoning rave scene. After setting up his first label with close friends in 1999, Graeme began engineering and collaborating with local DJs and bands in the studio. Now producing for over 15 years, Graeme continues to work on a variety of projects in the studio aswell as touring most weekends.
