The Kennedy Center unveils the new Kennedy Center Concert Hall Organ with a free concert featuring NSO organist William Neil and the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by NSO Assistant Conductor Ankush Kumar Bahl. The organ was created by Casavant Frères of St-Hyacinthe, Québec, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Kennedy Center and the 80th anniversary of the National Symphony Orchestra. This performance is the first time that the instrument will be publicly heard. Casavant Frères, founded in 1879, is the largest pipe organ builder in the world. As of 2008, this Canadian company had produced 3800 organs, and installed organs on every continent.
