The Houston Public Library and Houston Parks and Recreation Department invite the community to the Groundbreaking and Reception for the new Belle Sherman Kendall Neighborhood Library and Community Center.

The Groundbreaking will be held on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 1 pm at the site of the new building, 609 N. Eldridge, 77079. Parking is available at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 15015 Memorial (at Eldridge), with a complimentary shuttle provided to and from the site.

The Belle Sherman Kendall Neighborhood Library and Community Center will replace the existing Kendall Neighborhood Library and provide a new HPARD Community Center. The first combined library and community center to be built in Houston, the facility will nearly double the size of the library, offering the city its first three-story neighborhood library and the first library with a drive up window.

The current Kendall Neighborhood Library is located at 14330 Memorial Drive, 77079. The construction of new building is expected to be completed by the end of 2009.
