Does your backyard have flowers or a birdhouse? Do you help water your plants? Can you name at least two insects in your garden? If so, you are already close to becoming a Junior Master Gardener BACKYARD BUDDY! Make it official by joining the Junior Master Gardener program at Blithewold.
Description
The Junior Master Gardener (JMG) program at Blithewold is for children in grades 3-5. Participants must be willing to learn about the gardens, get dirty and have fun. The JMG program will introduce young gardeners to the art and science of gardening, while helping them develop leadership and life skills to become good citizens.
The group will meet once a week for six weeks starting on Saturday, March 19, 2011. We will be studying a chapter in the JMG Handbook about Ecology and Environmental Horticulture. In order to earn the Golden Ray Badge and your BACKYARD BUDDY certificate, each student must attend at least 5 sessions.
Class will be taught by Master Gardener and Bristol Garden Club member, Laurel Curtis, and Blithewolds Education Coordinator, Julie Murphy.
