Jungle Medicine: The Healing Force of Plant Spirit Energies October 15, 2009

Connie Grauds is a pharmacist who was initiated as a shamana through an extensive apprenticeship with a Peruvian Amazon jungle shaman. Meg Jordan is a medical anthropologist who has investigated the healing dynamics of four different healing traditions employing plant and ceremony in sacred context. They have combined their experiences in recovery and healing with visionary spirit doctors, and offer a colorful multi-media presentation.

You will hear tales of visionary spirit doctors, embodying non-ordinary approaches and worldviews. You will learn how these healers access powerful energies, and how the scientific community defines these phenomena. You will also discover which energy techniques, accessible in the alternative medicine field, share similar principles of bio-energetic dynamics.

About the Presenters
Connie Grauds, RPh, is President of the Association of Natural Medicine Pharmacists; Faculty at the University of Minnesota, Center for Spirituality and Healing; and Project Director of the nonprofit Spirited Medicine Alliance. Connie serves on the Integrative Health Studies Advisory Board at CIIS. She is author of the books The Energy Prescription and Jungle Medicine.

Meg Jordan, PhD, RN, is a clinical medical anthropologist, international health journalist, behavioral medicine specialist, and registered nurse with over 30 years experience. Author of four books, Meg is Department Chair and Professor of Integrative Health Studies at CIIS, editor of American Fitness Magazine, hosts radio and TV newscasts, and serves on numerous advisory boards.
