Juanita Family Family was formed in 1999 by Lana Rebel (bass player of former noise-rock band Last of the Juanitas) from a need to play the slew of country songs shed been writing. It wasnt hard to convince long-time friends Johnny Schier from Last of the Juanitas (on drums), Ben Wildenhaus of Federation X (on lap slide and piano) and long time Arizona friends, Dylan Reilly (bass) and James Curley (mandolin) to jump on board. This mix of friends has a great time playing together and the result is a sweet, old-fashioned sound that welcomes you to come on in and make yourself at home. In a completely do-it-yourself fashion, Lana and Dylan worked hard, saved their pennies and dimes, and released their self-titled CD in September of 2004. After touring and playing rock venues, roadhouses, parties, crawfish boils, festivals, rodeos, radio stations, and street corners across the country, they are proud to report having nearly sold out of the 1000 pressing in the first year, with little help from national distributors. The CD has received positive response from radio stations across the globe, including BBC Radio 1, which has invited the Juanita Family to record a Peel session in 2006.
The Juanita Family is a crying-eyes heartbreak outfit, channeling George Jones hurt and Loretta Lynn magnetism through the pure eloquence of frontwoman Lana Rebel -Grayson Currin, Independent-
