Josh Ottum, Seattle's preeminent postmodern pop musician, embarks on his first solo tour

After spending the first part of this young century in the bands Friends for Heroes and Mr. Pleasant, Ottum is preparing to release his first album, "Like the Season," on Mill Pond Records (home of Luke Temple) later this year. Bolstered by guitars, keyboards, a horn section, and a hundred multi-tracked voices singing melodies, melodies, harmonies, melodies and backwards woah-woahs and yeah-yeahs, Ottum's exquisite pop songs shine the sun on a crisp fall morning. Joining Ottum on "Like the Season" are drummer James McAllister (Sufjan Stevens, Ester Drang), drummer/engineer Casey Foubert (Pedro the Lion, Seldom, Crystal Skulls), and a full section of Seattle's finest horn players, to name a few. Ottum is a guitar virtuoso without being a wanker, a classic pop songwriter without being boring, and a pretty vocalist without being a diva. Chalk one up for the good guys.
