Join us for Martin Luther King Jr. events! January 13, 2010

In January, Edmonds Community College students and employees will reflect on civil rights and social justice in unity with the Edmonds School District and Central Washington University. Our featured speaker for Martin Luther King Jr. events is international educator, Arthur Romano. A certified nonviolence trainer, Romano has worked globally to challenge violence and promote peace. He is a World Peace Scholar who has conducted research on university level peace studies programs in India, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Martin Luther King Jr. National Holiday — January 18
Service-learning: Gold Park Restoration, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Mon., January 18. Celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Volunteer! Join us as we pull invasive weeds at our local Gold Park, and give back to our community. Remove blackberry, ivy, and lamium to prepare the area for an ethnobotanical garden, which will be designed and installed by the college's Learn and Serve Environmental Anthropology Field School in partnership with the City of Lynnwood this winter.
