John Scofield returns to Yoshi's with a new trio and a horn section. Comfortable playing many styles of music, Scofield is well acquainted with R&B and blues styles which he mixes seamlessly with his jazz playing. One of the "big three" of current jazz guitarists (along with Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell), Scofield's tone is immediately recognizable. His long resume includes stints with with Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker, the Billy Cobham-George Duke Band, TheGary Burton quartet and Miles Davis. His group will feature Larry Grenadier on bass, Bill Stewart on drums, and the "Scohorns" Phil Grenadier on trumpet, Frank Vacin on Baritone sax, and Eddie Salkin on Tenor and flute. Whether he's playing jazz, funk, be-bop, or jamming with Medeski, Martin, and Wood, Scofield's playing always gets in the groove.
