John Mahoney Big Band June 24, 2012

John Mahoney is a Professor and Coordinator of Jazz Studies in the College of Music of Loyola University in New Orleans. He directs the Loyola University Jazz Band, which won the Dr. M.E. "Gene" Hall Award for the most outstanding collegiate big band at the 2007 North Texas Jazz Festival at Addison. In addition to teaching, John remains an active performer on both trombone and piano. A CD of ten of Mahoney's big band compositions has been released on the New Orleans Music Group label entitled 'In From Somewhere,' and features eighteen outstanding musicians from the New Orleans area.
