Two-time Obie Award-winning performance artist John Kelly pays tribute to Canadian singer-songwriter legend Joni Mitchell by way of impersonation: he wears a wig and dress while evoking her smoky soprano with his own countertenor. He even plays dulcimer and replicates Mitchell’s signature open-tuning guitar style. Rather than bawdy caricature, Kelly’s performance is a loving tribute, and the songs are beautifully interpreted.
