John Keawe - Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert October 8, 2011

John is a four time winner of the NA Hoku Hano Hano Award for Slack Key Album of the Year for his 2011 release of “PLAY WITH ME PAPA”, the most coveted Hawaiian Music Award. “PLAY WITH ME PAPA” is an album of 12 original compositions by John and his tenth album. He had received the Na Hoku Hano Hano Award earlier for the best instrumental performance with his "Ho'onanea" CD which was followed by multiple awards: 1998 Hawaii Music Awards, best slack-key artist for his "Mana'olana" CD, - The 2003 Hawaii Music Award for his "Aloha Kaikua'ana" CD and the Hoku Award for his Ki-ho'alu CD. The Hoku Award is a special award given to an artist for perpetuating the art of slack-key guitar. In 2005, John was honored as a contributing artist on Hawaii's first Grammy Award for Best Hawaiian Music Album titled "Slack-key Guitar Vol. 2" by Palm Records. John is recognized internationally for his 2009 album "Hawaii Island...Is My Home" which also won the Na Hoku Hano Hano Award for Slack-Key Album of the Year.
