In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Franklin H. Williams Caribbean Cultural Center / African Diaspora Institute in New York City, BAM welcomes Joe Bataan, the king of Latin R&B, to BAMcafé. Born and raised in Spanish Harlem, Bataan was the premier Latin soul musician in the 1970s with his groundbreaking combination of mambo, pop, and jazz with rhythm and blues. After a 20-year hiatus from the music industry, Bataan is back with his trademark sound of clavinette, Hammond organ, groovy bass, Latin percussion, and soulful song.
