(Denver, CO) - Jim Milmoe: CHOICE, an exhibition of photographs spanning nearly sixty years by renowned photographic artist Jim Milmoe, will be on view at the Byers-Evans House Gallery, Thursday, December 3, through Sunday, January 31, 2010.

A resident of Colorado for over 50 years, Milmoe began his career in photography before moving to Colorado from Pennsylvania. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado College and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Denver. Milmoe is a Fellow of the Photographic Society of America, a Charter Member of the Colorado Chapter of the American Society of Magazine Photographers, and the recipient of the Colorado Governor's Award, bestowed upon him for the excellence of his photography and his dedication to the recognition of photography as a fine art.

Several images in the exhibition were made in Golden, where Milmoe resides. Uniqueness and beauty can be found in your own back yard; however, when traveling, our senses are heightened. Having traveled through all fifty states and twenty eight different countries, Milmoe has been given fresh and unexpected visual opportunities.

As the exhibition CHOICE shows us, Milmoe was not one to focus his camera and talents on just a handful of subjects that interested him, his life as a photographer has been one of diverse “series.” An artistic life that is the product of in-depth examinations of concepts and objects that both interested and amused him. He has created, collected, curated and critiqued art for most of his life, and for this exhibition he has selected vignettes from a few of those personal, amusing, and artistic “series.”

The Byers-Evans House Gallery is located at 1310 Bannock Street, Denver, Colorado 80204. Byers-Evans House Gallery hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Guided tours of the house are available from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and a fee is charged. Admission to the Byers-Evans House Gallery is free.
