Jill Bolte Taylor: “My Stroke of Insight” October 11, 2008

Jill Bolte Taylor, a brain scientist, while having a stroke herself, watched as her brain functions shut down one by one: motion, speech, memory, self-awareness.
Amazed to find herself alive, Taylor spent eight years recovering her ability to think, walk and talk. Having experienced the beauty of only the right brain functioning during the stroke, thereby entering into a state of timeless and limitless oneness, she now asks the question: “Who are we? We have the power to choose moment to moment how we want to be in the world. Which [hemisphere] do you choose, and when?
I believe that the more time we spend choosing to deepen the peace-circuitry of our right hemispheres the more peace we will project into the world and the more peaceful our planet will be.”

This Video Night will include a 20 minute video called “My Stroke of Insight” as well as excerpts of conversations with Oprah Winfrey in the “Soul Series”.
After the film there will be time for silence as well as to consider and share our own experiences in relation to Jill Bolte Taylor’s personal and scientific discoveries.
