Jeremy Pelt, one of the trailblazers of modern jazz, arrived in New York in 1998 after graduating from Berklee College of Music. Once he got there, it wasn't long before he started being noticed by a lot of top musicians in the city. His first professional Jazz gig was playing with the Mingus Big Band. Since his arrival in NYC, he has been fortunate enough to play with many of jazz's luminaries, such as Jimmy Heath, Ravi Coltrane, Nancy Wilson, Bobby Short, Bobby "Blue" Bland, The Skatalites, Cedar Walton, and many more. Downbeat describes Pelt as "steeped in modern post-bop, but also evoke a cinematic narrative..." His compositions have drawn him comparisons to Wayne Shorter or Bobby Hutcherson, his playing akin to Lee Morgan or Freddie Hubbard. It's easy to see why Pelt was voted Rising Star on the Trumpet five years in a row by Downbeat Magazine and the Jazz Journalist Association! His smoking band will consist of: Danny Grissett on piano, Dwayne Burno on bass, Darryl Green on drums and J. D. Allen on sax.
