Jazz keyboardist Jeff Lorber helped coin the term "New Adult Contemporary" (NAC) with his blend of funk, R&B, rock and eclectic jazz. He also played a significant role in developing the late '70s - early '80s R&B-jazz hybrid sound that later evolved into today's smooth jazz.
