Jeff Black is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, piano, and banjo) whose piano ballads have been compared to Randy Newman, while his up-tempo guitar-based songs recall Bruce Springsteen’s rockers. With five recordings under his belt since his 1998 debut,Black has carved out a niche for himself as the writer of powerful songs as well as a performer with a riveting stage presence.

This burly, blue collar son of Irish background from Missouri, has now settled into the Nashville music scene and has collaborated with a range of musicians from rock experimentalists Wilco to Americana favorite Iris DeMent, to bluegrass master Sam Bush. Jeff will bring songs from a new album to his University Café show. (Artist information at www.jeffblack.com)
