This unique and practical course is a comprehensive approach to mastering musical improvisation & jazz theory for beginners to advanced. Start playing immediately.

Theory, ear training & practice routines are combined in a simple, fun & highly effective method. Classes go far beyond verbal information & involve extensive & ongoing musical training. This is a great opportunity for players and students of every level to build a solid technical foundation.
Instructor Jim Grantham, a professional saxophonist, bandleader, & music educator for over 30 years, has taught jazz at Berklee College of Music, San Francisco State & was Director of Jazz Studies at Cal State at Hayward. Jim began these popular classes in 1977 at the Keystone Korner jazz club in San Francisco.

The reference material for the course is the JAZZMASTER COOKBOOK, a combination theory textbook & unique practice method called the JAZZMASTER WORKOUT. Play-along practice CDs are optionally available.
The entire course is divided into a series of progressive classes (Beginning though Advanced). Each class meets 2 1/2 hrs a week for 10 wks. Classes include discussions, singing, ear training, melody writing, practice & performance techniques, tune analysis, improvisation & homework.
