This Thursday marks the opening of The Art Institute of Portland Gallery show, Jantzen, 100 Years of Timeless Glamour. You are invited to join us from 6-8 pm for the opening reception with Jantzen Archivist Carol Alhadeff and Faculty Curator Annin Barrett.

The exhibit features a 100 year timeline of advertising art and displays swimwear from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1960s, 1990s worn by the following celebrities:

Johnny Weissmuller

Dick Powell

Esther Williams

Marilyn Monroe

Janet Leigh

Princess Diana

A 21-foot Diving Girl fiberglass sculpture from the 1950s suspends in the exhibit space. Also on view, Jantzen's 2010 Heritage Collection pays tribute to its past with retro styles adapted to the latest swimwear fashions.

Fashion Marketing and Apparel Design students at The Art Institute of Portland will also find inspiration in the achievement of this local company, now owned by Perry Ellis, that continues to be a fashion leader. The Art Institute is proud to honor Jantzen's 100 year anniversary with this exhibit.

The show runs through April 30.

The Art Institute of Portland Gallery is open from 9 am - 6 pm Monday through Thursday; 9 am - 4 pm on Fridays; and 9 am - 2 pm on Saturdays.
