Jane Lackey Artist Lecture
March 12, 2009 at 6:30pm: held in the Pratt Studios
Pratt Fine Arts Center welcomes accomplished artist Jane Lackey as a part of Pratt’s Master and Visiting Artist Program. She is an artist and educator who recently relocated her studio practice to Seattle. Her works on paper, paintings and installations take their form in relationship to our underlying physical systems. Neuroscience, genetics, patterns of speech and communication fuel an adaptation of materials and process, placing inner activity on the surface of mapped social geography. She was Artist-in-Residence and head of the graduate program in Fiber at Cranbrook Academy of Art between 1997 and 2007. Prior to that, she was a professor at Kansas City Art Institute

Lackey will teach a workshop entitled Material Drawing Intensive from March 13 - 16, 2009.
