IZ stands for "foot print" in Kazakh language. IZ was originally formed by Mamur, a Kazakh singer coming from Qitai, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It was then developed into a band with five members the most. Mamur began to play dombra from childhood, then he studied playing guitar, mandolin, piano and other instruments.The music of IZ was partly transcribed from traditional Kazakh folk songs, with others written and arranged by themselves.
