Intro to Solar Power - Free class, not promotional March 10, 2007

This is a free class in solar power in many of its applications:

o Generating electricity
o Heating water
o Cooking

If you've ever been curious about solar power, this class will answer a lot of your questions. I am offering this class simply because I love solar power for many reasons, have had many positive experiences with solar power, and want to pass along this knowledge to you, so that you can get started yourself.

The class consists mainly of a professional-quality presentation, using PowerPoint, though we'll have plenty of time for your questions.

We'll be concentrating on practical, inexpensive applications that you can install yourself and use immediately:

o Portable solar electrical power
o Small backup power systems for your home
o Powering a single room in your home, or a small office
o Portable solar showers
o 3 different solar ovens, with which you can cook rice, fish, chicken, stews, bread, brownies, and more

We'll have working examples on hand of the kind of equipment needed, and there will be a hands-on session in which you'll be able to use the equipment, such as:

o Solar panels (3 kinds)
o Battery packs with built-in inverters
o Charge controllers
o Portable solar showers (2 kinds)
o Solar ovens (2 kinds)

This will be a fun, exciting class at which you'll learn a lot, and which should also spark your imagination.

Directions:
From 680, exit at Geary/Treat Blvd., and proceed south on Treat. After a few lights, turn right onto Candelero, then an immediate left onto a very brief section of Olmo, then an immediate right onto Pomar, then an immediate left into the parking lot in front of the clubhouse.

The clubhouse is the first structure on the left after the right turn from Olmo Way. It's a single story building, with large black solar water heating panels all over the roof. The entry is a set of double doors, mostly glass. There will be a small sign on the double doors.
