As part of the Live Cinema program, composition for the ears meets composition for the eyes in an organic, evolving world of sight and sound. Zoey Keating will create a lush soundscape of live, layered cello, which Robert Hodgin will translate into light.

Reversing the usual model of musical score as accompaniment to cinematic visuals, in this performance Hodgin's dynamically generated animations of a mysterious forest environment respond in real-time to Keating's music and movement through a Bluetooth connection between her bow and a computer. The result is an experimental soundscape of live, layered cello merging seamlessly with Hodgin's organic animations of projected imagery.

Classically trained from the age of eight, independent artist Zoey Keating (who by the way, has more than 1.4 million - yes million - Twitter followers!) uses a foot-controlled laptop to turn herself into one-woman orchestra. Robert Hodgin is an artist and programmer whose work ranges from simple 2D data visualizations to immersive 3D terrain simulations.
