Jacqueline Baker and Lionel Shriver will read from their latest works. Dionne Brand hosts.

Jacqueline Baker
Jacqueline Baker is the author of A Hard Witching and Other Stories, which won the Danuta Gleed Literary Award, the City of Edmonton Book Prize and the Howard O’Hagan Award for Short Fiction.

Lionel Shriver
Lionel Shriver is the author of We Need to Talk About Kevin, the winner of the 2005 Orange Prize. Her other books include Game Control, A Perfectly Good Family, and Double Fault.

The Horseman's Grave
The Horseman’s Graves is set on the Saskatchewan-Alberta border, where Baker unfolds a tale of a small German immigrant community caught between the promise of this new land and the weight of a European past.

The Post-Birthday World
In The Post-Birthday World, Shriver asks the question does the course of a life hinge on a single kiss? Whether the American expatriate Irena McGovern does or doesn't lean into a certain pair of lips in London will determine whether she stays with her smart, intellectual American partner, Lawrence, or runs off with Ramsey--a wild, exuberant British friend. Using a parallel-universe structure, Shriver reveals Irena's life as it unfolds under the influence of two drastically different men.
