Sikdar’s books, mostly academic in nature, were sold on the first day. Added to this were paperbacks of recent novels and children’s literature. However, none of the titles could beat the popularity of Feluda and Professor Shonku and of course the Tintin series.

Ghosh bought Sikdar’s Rabindra Sahitye Rupantar O Oikya and Bharatbarsho Swadhinatar Pore (edited by Bipan Chandra).

Hatir Boi — a book on elephants by Dhritikanta Lahiri Chaudhuri that won the Ananda Puraskar this year — was also on the list of must-grabs.

“All our titles will be available here,” Mitra said. “The new releases will take place simultaneously at all outlets. We also have gift coupons.”
