For more than twenty years, Horton has been researching early women architects who lived and practiced at the same time as eminent California architect, Julia Morgan. Her study uncovered many surprises that led to the decision to write her book, and from a database with 300 names, she focuses on fifty women with sufficient information documenting their work and careers. With the inclusion of slide imagery, Horton will describe the lives and practices of some of these architects, the education available to them and how they found their first jobs.
