Indelible is the story of African American genetic scientist, Elinor Bonds, who races to find a cure for a rare disease that killed her husband and now threatens the life of her teenaged son. This groundbreaking film marks the first time an African American woman plays the lead role of a scientist. The filmmakers plan to theatrically release the film, as well as use it to inspire and expand the possibilities of career choices made by young women of color. The event will feature a performance of Philip Hamilton’s Voices, an acapella journey of soul, featuring beat boxer Kenny Muhammad, a premiere of the Indelible trailer, and a screening of Indelible director Randall Dottin’s award winning film Lifted.

Money raised at the event will support the filmmakers in completing the film, provide free screenings for students and create learning materials related to the film’s themes. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the important work of the Innocence Project, a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing.

Event is co-sponsored by Indelible Pictures, New Heritage Theatre Group and United Social Service, Inc./Social Service Board.
