Toronto-based South Asian dance company inDANCE was established in 1999 as a vehicle to encompass the entire range of artistic director Hari Krishnan's creative output: choreography, performance, touring, and teaching. inDANCE performs five brief works: BOX, facing off on hybrid identities; Inverse, a kinetic dialogue about poetic dissonance; " mea culpa…", excerpts from an exotic unauthorized pseudo-biography; owning shadows, interrogating the Ramayana narrative stripped of its linear mythology; and Bollywood hopscotch, a whimsical and subversive take on Bollywood retro-culture. This company crafts a provocative global view of contemporary Indian dance. A discussion will be held post-performance.
