Join the Oakland Youth Chorus for a local holiday tradition, the annual OYC Winter Concert. Bring your family and friends to enjoy the talents of over a hundred young singers at the event we're calling IN THE ARMS OF WINTER!

December is here, and OYC is celebrating with a joyous event featuring all of the fabulous choruses of the Oakland Youth Chorus. On Saturday, December 8th, the OYC will offer songs of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa; everything from traditional pieces, to Vivaldi, to contemporary composers like Donny Hathaway. The ages of OYC singers range from five to adult. The singers come from several Oakland schools - the elementary school Miracle Chorus, the Middle School Magic Choir, and the teens and college students of the Concert Chorus. The OYC Alumni Chorus will also make an appearance, including OYC members from the last three decades!

La Nell Martin, who has conducted the teen Concert Chorus and Middle School Magic Chorus for three years, has been officially named Director of Choral Programs for the Oakland Youth Chorus organization. The Middle School Magic Choir and the Concert Chorus have won some major awards at national competitions over the past three years. Along with other OYC instructors, La Nell will lead all of the choruses in the evening's exciting and varied repertoire.
