Honor among thieves ... here, professional hit men, is brilliantly played out in this first film by celebrated Irish playwright Martin McDonagh. His main characters are professional hit men - they kill for money. The film opens as a disarming comedy about two very different hit men - the cool veteran Brendan Gleeson and the young untried tensely wired Colin Farrell. Following their botching of a contract their boss Harry (Ralph Fiennes) sends his duo off on a two week paid vacation in Bruges. Alas, the devious brutal Harry has his reasons! McDonagh's plot flows like a serene stream that gradually picks up turbulent force ultimately climaxing as a murderous rapid.
