Bio:
~ Winner of the Shepherd Express ‘Best of Milwaukee 2010’ Award for Best Rock Band, I’m Not A Pilot has been dazzling audiences of all ages since they released their self-titled debut EP in mid 2009. Known to many as Milwaukee’s ‘guitar-less’ indie rock band, I’m Not A Pilot has performed in venues all over Milwaukee and at many summer music festivals including Bastille Days, Summer Soulstice, Cornerstone, and Summerfest as a headliner. INAP just released their much anticipated first full length album entitled 'Need Money For Rocket Fuel' on November 12th, 2010 and the album is for sale at Itunes, Amazon, and Cd Baby. INAP can be heard on 88.9 Radio Milwaukee, 91.7 WMSE, 89.7 WUWM, and can be followed on Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter, amongst others. ~ I’m Not A Pilot’s success as one of Milwaukee’s major bands results somewhat from their unique instrumentation. The music can best be described as something you’ve never heard before, encompassing a cross between Electro Pop and Rock N’ Roll mixed with symphonic sounds and structure. All songs are written and constructed around frontman Mark Glatzel's soaring vocals and intricate piano work. Peter Thomas, cellist in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, adds melodic and harmonic bursts of energy through his ‘guitar simulated’ electric cello playing. Adrian Esguerra, (bass) and Steve Vorass (drums) provide the driving rhythm that fuels the entire sound of the quartet. According to Evan Rytlewski of the Shepherd Express, "Glatzel's piano and Thomas' cello form the core of INAP's guitar-free sound, which finds a melodic middle ground between the piano-rock of radio acts like The Fray and Keane and the indie-pop symphonies of Sufjan Stevens and Matt Pond PA.” ~ Although I’m Not A Pilot has primarily performed shows in Milwaukee and the Midwest, plans are to tour the West Coast in the summer of 2011. "I'm Not A Pilot is four musicians coalescing to reach a state of gestalt by exploring new sonic territories,” writes Charles Nevsimal of INFO* Magazine, “and in doing so, they're charting a course to the stars."
