Did you know that there are people in this world who are dying every day because they stand up for what they believe in?

Hydeware Theatre brings Wallace Shawn's, THE FEVER, a beautiful and eloquent meditation of self-justification, to the Tin Ceiling, November 10-19.

THE FEVER tells the story of a person from a privileged world, who is suffering from a sense of moral disconnection, and is trying to find solace in travel. Through a series of unfortunate events, she finds herself in a poor country amidst civil war. Suddenly, deliriously ill, she collapses in a hotel bathroom and confronts an internal chorus of conflicting voices: images of physical and economic violence, accusations of indifference, and cold-blooded arguments in favor of oppression.

THE FEVER is a one woman show directed by G.P. Hunsaker and stars Ember Hyde, (Quince in A Midsummer Night?s Dream, Salome Musgrove in The Robber Bridegroom, and Carol in Oleanna). This blistering monologue invites the audience into one person?s living room and mind as she tries to justify her existence and searches for more than just the shallow surface that others find in life.

Directly following THE FEVER, Fridays and Saturdays, will be a showing of MAN WITH SHOUTGUN, a twenty-minute original short play written by St. Louis?s own Byron Kerman. This thought-provoking, in-your-face monologue tells the story of a man who lives through an extremely violent mugging and becomes a gun fanatic. He is fueled by notions of power and control, obsessed with the everyday violence he sees in nature and in his capitalist society. Is he a madman one step away from a cold blooded murder? Or does he offer the hard truth, that violence is not only a guilty pleasure, it is necessary to our survival. If so, how do we make a compromise to corral -- but never to kill ? our own animal urges.

Hydeware invites you to come, sit by our fire, enjoy a fresh scone and cup of tea and face up to reality. THE FEVER and MAN WITH SHOUTGUN performs Thurs.-Sat. November 10-19 in The Tin Ceiling, just east of Gravois on Cherokee, 3149 Cherokee St. at 8:00pm. Ticket prices are $10 for students and seniors and $15 general admission.
