These Siberian masters of harmonic (overtone) singing provide a fresh and innovative approach to an ancient art form. Huun-Huur-Tu is the most famous Tuvan ensemble performing throat singing, or khoomei - a fascinating vocal technique in which a single musician produces two notes simultaneously. Featured are traditional solo vocal styles and contemporary songs accompanied by the jaw?s harp, the byzaanchi lute, the igil (?horsehead? fiddle) and percussion.
