Join us as we spread the universal message of justice and peace in a show of unity and support for the oppressed people of the world. In the year 680 A.D. Husayn, the son of Ali, the grandson of the prophet Muhammad along with his family and 72 companions faced an army if over 40,000 and revived the religion of equity and justice for all people. He exemplified God-centered resistance and opposed all levels of oppression. Until today his legacy has inspired countless people of all faiths to break the chains of oppression and corruption.

“I learned from Hussein how to achieve victory while being oppressed.” -Mahatma Gandhi (Indian political and spiritual leader)

“The best lesson which we get from the tragedy of Karbala is that Husayn and his companions were rigid believers in God. They illustrated that the numerical superiority does not count when it comes to the truth and the falsehood. The victory of Husayn,
despite his minority, marvels me!” -Thomas Carlyle (Scottish historian and essayist)

This is an Interfaith event in Frank Ogawa Plaza on December 4th. We invite all to come and help us represent the oppressed of our place and time. As Ali, the father of Husayn and successor of the Prophet said: "A man is either your brother in faith or your equal in humanity".
