Most companies have important proprietary information and know-how that they do NOT want shared with competitors. Employees are necessarily given access to this information so that they can perform their duties. Consequently, it is important for employers to ensure that confidential information is appropriately protected, both with respect to existing employees, and those who leave to join a competitor.

As with many other areas of the law, California has unique laws that create distinct challenges for companies and the HR professionals charged with implementing practices and policies to protect company secrets. Discover legal do's and don'ts, as well as best practices, for protecting your company from the unauthorized use and disclosure of confidential information.
