How to Maintain Calm in the Middle of the Economic Storm

Celebrating the Woman's Journey Speaker Series Starts March 24th in Denver

The current economic crisis has taken the biggest physical and emotional toll on women, according to American Psychological Association's newly released 2008 Stress in America survey. Emotional Intelligence expert Dr. Laura Belsten will give strategies on how to ride out the storm with joy and grace in the new speaker series "Celebrating the Woman's Journey," on March 24 at the Wellshire Inn in Denver.

"Women take the brunt of bad economic times since they are the lynchpin of the family," says Belsten. "In this presentation, I show women how to use Emotional Intelligence to maintain their calm and enable everyone around them to come together and be strong to ride out these turbulent times."

Recent research shows that Emotional Intelligence accounts for 80% of our success in the workplace and in life. IQ, or cognitive intelligence accounts for 20%.

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to be aware of our own emotions and the emotions of others, in the moment, and to use that information to manage ourselves and our relationships in an optimal way. "Emotional Intelligence is especially important for women today because it teaches resilience - how to handle setbacks - and how to keep destructive emotions in check," says Belsten.

A portion of the proceeds from Celebrating the Woman's Journey(TM) Speaker Series benefits the Fear To Love Project. Founder Laurie Cameron's mission is to empower at-risk women to WAKE UP their relationships in order to break the cycle of Relationship Illiteracy and create a sustainable culture of compassion at home, at work, in our schools, and in the world.
