Ed Mazria, AIA, believes architects must become leaders in the fight against global warming. His recently launched "Architecture 2030" (www.architecture2030.org) draws a connection between building design and global warming, with research indicating that building design and construction could have a greater effect on reversing global warming than any other industry sector. Considering this research, the AIA Board of Directors released a policy statement calling for a 50% reduction in use of fossil fuels for buildings in four years, with additional reductions leading to eventual carbon-neutrality by 2030. Mazria will present his vision for how to meet these goals.
