Horse Power & Cosmic Relations - Paintings by Biswajit Das & Camellia Suman. Biswajit creates strong, vibrant and dynamic images on canvas. His new series, 'Horse Power' true to his characteristic style, jumps out from the frames to hold the audience in awe. Nevertheless, this exhibition does not focus only on horse-tales, it goes on to depict the horse as a special identity that is hidden amongst all of us. The paintings pulsate with energy and life, through his unique use of colours and textures. This exhibition has 55 paintings by Biswajit Das, most of which have horse as their main theme. But this artist has not limited his horses under the shackles of lasso. It's a delight to see so many wild, strong and beautiful horses running on the whole canvas. Some paintings depict their speed; some establish their unity and wild bonding, while few other highlight the pain of their extreme loneliness. Evident from the colours he chooses, and the long deliberate strokes he paints with, is his heritage. Biswajit comes from rural Bengal, the birth place of a generation of romantics, where each season brings with itself different hues and moods. His paintings tell stories that are beyond the mere romance and beauty of nature, it catches history and emotion and environment in all its splendid glory. Biswajit is a much respected graphic artist in his day job, and is as comfortable wielding the mouse and the digital stylus as he is at using paints and brushes.
