Hope Mohr Dance presents works by three generations of female dance makers-Hope Mohr, Molissa Fenley and Yvonne Rainer-in its third home season. The evening features the world premiere of Far from Perfect by Hope Mohr, a new solo entitled Mass Balance created and performed by Molissa Fenley, and the legendary Yvonne Rainer's pioneering work Trio A.

Inspired by the work of minimalist painter Agnes Martin, Mohr's Far from Perfect explores forgiveness and the creative process as two journeys that can illuminate each other. Mohr's collaborators include award-winning poet Brenda Hillman, who has written an original text that will be recorded and woven through a score by William Duckworth, and media designer David Szlasa, whose visual environment combines projections of Hillman's text, re-creations of Martin's grid paintings, and home video footage. Dancers Laura Blakely, Cameron Growden, Derek Harris, Emily Hite, and Tegan Schwab perform.

Molissa Fenley, a 2008 Guggenheim Fellow, Rome Prize winner and prolific choreographer based in New York, is featured in her new solo work, Mass Balance, set to music by Turkish-born Bay Area composer Cenk Ergun.

Hope Mohr returns to dancing for the first time after the birth of her two children to perform in Yvonne Rainer's iconic dance sequence, Trio A. Mohr is joined by Brooklyn-based dancer Robbie Cook, who has worked with choreographers Deborah Hay, Liz Lerman and Margaret Jenkins, among others.
