Two young men, both nineteen and visiting Cape Cod for an adventuresome weekend, spot two attractive girls, slightly older than themselves, and they set about trying to pick them up. The eagerness of the boys is contrasted with the disinterest of the girls—although the prettier of the latter (knowing very well what is in the air) is more intrigued than her friend would like. Events then move on to a very funny beach picnic, with much beer-drinking and suggestive talk. The relative naiveté of the boys is effectively and humorously contrasted with the unsuspected worldliness of the girls. In the end the boys' bravado is shattered completely, but it is clear that a new and valuable awareness of the ways of the world (and "older" women) has replaced it.
 
The “Hooters” cast includes Mandy Fralé as Cheryl, Rachel D. Graham as Ronda, Robert Reser as Ricky and Neil Olson as Clint.
 
Ted Tally had a distinguished theater background prior to breaking into motion pictures. A graduate of Yale's prestigious theater school, he devoted the late 1970s and most of the 80s to the stage. His "Terra Nova" premiered at the Yale Rep in 1977; its 1984 NYC production earned the writer an OBIE Award. Among his other plays are "Coming Attractions", "Silver Linings" and "Little Footsteps". As a screenwriter, Tally won an Academy Award for his 1991 adaptation of The Silence of the Lambs, forever emblazoning the name of Hannibal 'the Cannibal' Lecter in the annals of American screen villains. After declining to write the screenplay for Hannibal, Tally returned to the Hannibal Lecter franchise to write Red Dragon. He is also credited as an associate producer for Mission to Mars, as well as creative consultant for Madagascar and story consultant for Shrek 2.
