Hike for Young Professionals: Turkey Mountain June 26, 2010

Join other NJYP Hikers for this early Summer loop hike in Morris County. We will travel up Turkey Mountain until we get to our goal, the panoramic viewpoint that is picture worthy! Bring a camera, bring a snack, and bring you want for the great outdoors and new friends. Post-hike the group traditionally goes out for cold drinks and a late lunch.

Member Cost:
$5 for the first 5
$10 for the next 6 to 25
$20 at the door

Non-Member Cost:
$20 online and at the door.

Tickets:
There are a limited number of Tickets for sale. Tickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door. All sales are final.

Specs:
The hike is classified as moderate and is about 5.2 miles long.
The hike should take about 3 hours.
As with all hikes you must be in good, athletic shape.

Sweeper:
If the group is large we are going to look for 2 volunteers to act as sweepers. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

Hike Leader:
Noah will be leading this hike.

What to bring:
Hiking boots and water (required).
Snacks, a light lunch, etc.
Toilet paper, tissues, plastic bags for garbage, etc.

Inclement Weather:
Drizze will not cancel this hike but heavy rain may. Please check your inbox for updates and the NJYP.org calendar. Tickets will be refunded. Extreme heat may also cancel this hike.

Directions:
Take Interstate Route 287 South to Exit 47 (Montville, Lincoln Park), and turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto Main Road (U.S. Route 202). Continue on Main Road as the road makes two sharp turns – first to the left, then to the right. In 0.6 mile, just before reaching a fire station, turn right onto Taylortown Road. Continue on Taylortown Road for 1.8 miles until it ends at Boonton Avenue (County Route 511). Turn right onto Boonton Avenue and continue for 0.7 mile to the entrance to the Pyramid Mountain County Park Natural Historic Area, on the left side of the road, opposite the Mars Park Corporate Center.
