Get ready for awesome!!! Not only will we hike in one of the most beautiful and remote areas of NJ, we’re going to do part of it under the stars and moonlight! Join us in our evening adventure and experience the forest in a whole new light. We will be hiking about 6 to 7 miles total with at least a full mile of it under the moonlight. At some point in our adventure, we will roast marshmallows and enjoy tasty s’mores by camp stove or campfire.

Register for Hike: Full Moon at Blue Mountain Lakes in Stillwater, NJ on Eventbrite $20 at the door if you do not buy a ticket online.

Hike Leader:
David will be leading this hike.
David will not be waiting for late people. In fairness to those who arrive on time, the hike will start on time.

Specs:
The hike is classified as moderately strenuous with a lot of uphill and downhill.
We will be hiking a total of about 6 to 7 miles and will take approx 4.5 hours.

Sweeper:
If the group size is larger than 10, we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

What to bring:
Hiking boots and 3 liters of water (required). This hike is going to be taxing and you need to have the right gear and supply of water.
Also, bring a light source. We will try to navigate by the moonlight with our eyes adapted to the limited light, but we still may need an external light source.
Bring a light snack or meal to keep your appetite satisfied.

Inclement Weather:
Any precipitation will cancel this hike. Please check your inbox for updates. Tickets will be refunded.

Directions:
Take RT 80 west to exit 12. At the end of the exit ramp, take a right onto RT 521 (Hope / Blairstown Rd). Take that to the end and make a left onto RT 94 South. At the first light, make the weaker right onto Bridge St. Do not take the sharpest right, make sure you are on Bridge St. Follow that up the hill and make a right onto Millbrook Rd. Follow that for 6.4 miles until you see Historical Millbrook Village on your right and turn right onto Old Mine Rd (North) there (the sign for Old Mine Rd was gone last time, so please look for the Historical Millbrook Village and count your mileage). Continue on Old Mine Rd for 1.5 miles and make your first right (you’ll see a sign for Blue Mountain Lakes) onto Flatrockville Stillwater Rd (also known as Blue Mountain Lakes Rd). The parking area is 1.3 miles up on the left.

Please give plenty of time to arrive here. Once at that lot, we will carpool to the smaller lot approx 10 min away via dirt road. Although never required, please consider sharing your vehicle for a carpool.

Please Note If you decide to use GPS and not these directions, please note that you can only approach the destination from the western side. The eastern side is gated off even though it may show as a continuous road.

How to find the group:
Meet in the parking lot just off the road. We will be carpooling to another lot about 10 min away so please be willing to share your car or leave it behind for a while.
